The Mansion House Restaurant

Menus are imaginative offering a superb choice and are priced extremely reasonably, complemented by an excellent and reasonably priced wine list.

"Notably hospitable staff dispense professional service but the approach is unstuffy and whilst the food is taken seriously the atmosphere is not too reverential. The style is classic and broadly French with a welcome enthusiasm for the use of local fish. Depth of flavour is a real strength in dishes like lamb and black pudding sausage with warm lentils and an excellent jus or shiraz glazed breast of duck with red wine risotto and roasted onions. Familiar desserts are well-executed with sticky banana pudding with butterscotch sauce a satisfying example."
