As well as a comprehensive menu of starters, specialities, Tandoori and old favourites, most of them unique to Ponchanad, Chef Ruf Uddin has introduced a number of delicious fish dishes. They include Machli Tikka Hariyali which is Scottish salmon, charcoal-roasted with fresh mint, coriander, green chilli and tomato. Fish dishes are also included in the list of starters. They include Spicy Whitebait, marinated in garlic and hot chillies, rolled in gram flour batter, enriched with fresh herbs and crispy fried.

There is also a big variety if meat dishes including lamb, chicken and duck options. There are vegetarian choices such as the tasty starter Baingan-Ebahar which is baked aubergine steaks stuffed with cottage cheese and sesame seeds, topped with diced tomatoes, tempered with curry leaves and mustard seeds.

Ruf, who happily chats to diners when he has a minute to spare, will also cook to order to suite dietary needs.
